FAQs

What is Founder Ball?

Founder Ball is Canada’s live startup investment event and en blanc yacht gala taking place on June 11, 2026 in Toronto.

Five finalist startups will pitch live for access to up to $1M in Angel Investor Capital. Instead of one startup receiving a fixed prize, participating Founder Ball Angels will allocate investment units across the finalists they believe in most.

The startup that attracts the most allocation will be crowned the Founder Ball Champion at midnight.

Founder Ball is no longer a winner-take-all pitch competition.

The new model gives investors the ability to allocate capital live across the Final Five. This means multiple startups can attract investment, build momentum, and leave with capital commitments from the room.

The Final Five have been selected and will be announced shortly.

The Final Five are competing for live investor allocation from Founder Ball Angels, with up to $1M in Angel Investor Capital available across the event.

Founder Ball Angel capital is intended to be invested into participating finalist startups through startup-specific investment vehicles. Each finalist will have its own investment structure and terms, which will be shared with investors before the event.

Yes. Each startup will have its own terms based on its traction, stage, market, and current financing position.

Those terms will be made available to Founder Ball Angels before June 11 so investors can review the opportunity before allocating capital.

Yes. Each finalist will sign an LOI in advance confirming that they accept the Founder Ball process, agreed terms, and the ability to receive capital allocated to them during the event, subject to final documentation and compliance requirements.

All finalists will complete diligence before the event, including company verification, financial review, KYC, and bank account verification.

The goal is to ensure that the companies are investment-ready before Founder Ball Angels begin allocating capital on June 11.

Finalists are expected to accept capital under the pre-agreed terms signed before the event, subject to final documentation, compliance, and closing requirements.

Founder Ball Angels receive $1,000 investment allocation units based on their Angel tier.

During the event, Angels can allocate those units across one or more of the Final Five startups. They may choose to put all of their units into one company or spread them across multiple finalists.

A real-time leaderboard will display how much Angel Investor Capital each startup is attracting throughout the event.

This makes Founder Ball more interactive and gives founders the opportunity to influence investor conviction through their pitch, traction, story, and conversations during the yacht gala.

The Founder Ball Champion is the startup that attracts the highest total investor allocation by the end of the evening.

The Champion will be crowned at midnight.

Finalists gain access to a curated room of founders, angel investors, business owners, executives, operators, sponsors, media, and Toronto business leaders.

They also gain national visibility, investor relationships, potential customers, strategic partners, and a live platform to activate their existing supporters.

Founder Ball is not a demo day. It is a live capital allocation event.

Every participating Angel has committed capital and can allocate investment units into the startups they believe in. The event is designed to turn investor interest into real funding momentum.

Yes. We encourage the founding team to be present.
